The Oscars Are Upon Us

2/24/2013

It's Oscar time. I love watching the Academy Awards every year. I don't know why I am so wrapped up in it. I rarely get to see most of the movies nominated before the awards are given out, but I still want to see what everyone is wearing, the jokes the host tells, and the In Memorium where I inevitably say "I forgot so and so died this year". I love to see what movies that are adapted from books get nominated or win. I think it is the dream of a lot of authors to one day see their story on the big screen. Of this year's nominees, which film do you think will win?

I Might Be A Horrible Person

I have realized that I am a horrible grammar Nazi. I was reading over some other people's work in one of my classes and the blatant incorrect or missing punctuation, on top of the horrible spelling, makes me cringe. Is it wrong to get so bothered by it, especially at the college level?

This Seems About Right

I know this isn't about my writing, but I am not feeling well and can't think straight tonight so I am giving it a break for today. I was lucky to get any homework done before I passed out for a little while.

Cats seem to have this innate quality about them where they want things they can't have and don't want things that are for them. Dogs, on the other hand, aren't as picky and are just happy to get anything you give them.

Don't Say You are Sorry

I just read this article and I totally agree with it. Go ahead and read it, you will probably agree with it too.

Stop Apologizing for What You Like to Read

Excerpt:
"You should not apologize for what you like to read. The person you are apologizing to can only fit into one of three categories:
1. He or she shares your joy.
2. He or she doesn’t give a good goddamn.
3. He or she thinks less of you for what you readin which case don’t apologize to that person because he or she is clearly a douchebag who doesn’t deserve your obeisance.

Number 1 requires no apology. Number 2 requires no apology. Number 3 neither requires nor deserves! an apology."

Been Readin'...

I have read a few books since 2013 began and now I have read all that I have wanted and now it is a waiting game until sequels and other books I want to read are released. I am not a critic and I don't have a lot to say about books I like that aren't "I liked it", "It was ok", and various other phrases like that so I will just list what books I have read that I really liked (even though I have read way more) and the ones I am anxiously waiting on.

Read:
The Secret of Ella and Micha by Jessica Sorensen
The Lux Series by Jennifer L. Armentrout
   Obsidian, Onyx, and Opal
On The Island by Tracey Garvis-Graves
The Coincidence of Callie & Kayden by Jessica Sorensen
Vain by Fisher Amelie

Waiting on:
Walking Disaster by Jamie McGuire
Reckless by S.C Stephens
This Girl by Colleen Hoover
Never Too Far by Abbi Glines
The Redemption of Callie & Kayden by Jessica Sorensen
The Forever of Ella & Micha by Jessica Sorensen
Origin by Jennifer L. Armentrout
The Game Changer by J. Sterling
Untitled currently Nevermore #3 by Kelly Creagh

It appears I have a lot of waiting to do. Maybe during the waiting times, I can get some writing done. In the next two weeks, I have two term papers and a PowerPoint presentation to write, so I don't think I will be getting any of my writing done in that amount of time.

Happy Valentines Day... A Little Late

2/15/2013

I am a little late to the game but I wanted to say Happy Valentines Day. This week was full of craziness because Mardi Gras was on Tuesday and since we don't revel down in the city with everyone else, the day off made the entire week feel like it was Monday over and over again.
